ApeVariants: Ape, Monkey
An animal well known for its sagacity. If said to be collared and lined, the collar is put round the loins. While in reality the terms monkey and ape are not synonymous, in heraldry the terms may be interchangeable. If a distinction is to be made, monkeys have a long tail, apes have no tail.
